Omega Tau Omega Chapter Events
AKA Empowerment Day is an Omega Tau Omega Chapter signature program in partnership with Habitat of Humanity of York County to assist families in the Paradise community of Fort Mill and others throughout York County by promoting healthy living, education, resource awareness, community-building, and fellowship.
Our goal is to provide free blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, financial counseling, employment assistance, substance abuse rehab information, clothing, haircuts, music, door prizes, activities and recreation for children, etc.
On June 21st — the summer solstice — people across the world participated in a fundraising activity on The Longest Day. The hope was that, together, the strength of our light would outshine the darkness of Alzheimer’s.
In 2018, the Omega Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association to deliver care packages for Caregivers in the Fort Mill area. Additionally, members of the chapter and community gathered at the Fort Mill Public Library to share personal stories of those affected by Alzheimer’s and to walk in solidarity for the cure.
